Local Businesses We Recommend

A short list of locally-owned Indianapolis-area businesses we personally endorse — for the stuff we don't do ourselves.

Last updated: July 2026

We get asked pretty often who we'd trust for work outside our lane — dryer vents and the occasional unusual request. This is a short, honest list of neighbors we actually recommend. No referral fees, no affiliate links, no reciprocal promises other than the handshake kind. Just small, locally-owned operators we know.

This list is short on purpose. We'll add to it slowly as we meet more people worth sending business to.

The Dryer Vent Tech

CSIA-certified dryer vent cleaning & installation — Carmel, IN

Keith runs a CSIA-certified dryer vent cleaning and installation shop out of Carmel. Dryer vent fires are a real thing, and most homes go years without ever having the line inspected. If yours is overdue — or if you're renovating and need a new run — he's the guy. A good friend, and someone we'd trust inside our own house.

  • Repairs & rerouting
  • New vent installation
  • Pest-proof vent cover installation

Midwest Balloon Rides

Hot air balloon rides, weddings & proposals — Fishers, IN

Founded in 2002 and based in Fishers, Midwest Balloon Rides has flown more than 25,000 passengers across Central Indiana. Tony is the most-logged balloon pilot in the state — and, full disclosure, he's also my dad. For proposals, anniversaries, wedding ceremonies, or just because — there's nothing else like floating over cornfields at sunrise.
